Newport Academy Helps Teens Lead Happy and Healthy Lives

With multiple locations in the United States, Newport Academy is a treatment and rehabilitation center for teenagers struggling with mental health issues, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, and substance abuse. Through a comprehensive approach that focuses on strengthening teenagers’ self-esteem, Newport Academy aims to provide young adults and adolescents with the confidence they need to lead happy and healthy lives.

In order to better meet each teen’s recovery needs, the center offers several different options for treatment that include day school, outpatient, and residential programs. Through the center’s day schools, teens follow a tailored academic curriculum in a sober, supportive, alcohol and drug-free environment. Day school students also attend daily counseling sessions in line with their individual recovery plan.

Moreover, students in the center’s outpatient program attend classes outside of Newport Academy and visit one of the school’s campuses on multiple days per week to participate in specially selected after-school therapy sessions that focus on a long-term commitment to recovery.

The most comprehensive of the center’s programs is the residential option in which teenagers live on campus and are supported by a qualified team of individual and family therapists, medical professionals, counselors, and a psychiatrist. Together, these professionals help teens along the path to ongoing, sustainable healing. The students who attend the residential program are separated by gender in order to create a safe environment free of distractions where teens can concentrate solely on the work needed to rebuild their lives.

The cornerstone of all Newport Academy programs is a commitment to re-establishing family balance and cultivating positive relationships between teens and their parents. Parents are closely involved in their teens’ treatment and receive regular updates on their clinical process. A key part of students’ recovery involves attending weekly family therapy sessions, where the professionals at Newport Academy focus on helping to mend the bonds of trust and foster better communication between teenagers and their parents.

Newport Academy maintains affiliations and accreditations with major nonprofits and governmental organizations, including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services, the National Eating Disorders Association, and the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs. In recognition of its work to restore the lives of teens struggling with mental health and behavioral issues, Newport Academy has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, US News & World Report, Psychology Today, and CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
